Strengthening Ancillary Benefits with Paid Family Medical Leave
Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML)1 is a state-mandated, job-protected leave that allows employees to take time off for family or medical reasons. As these laws are actively being changed and added on a state-by-state basis, Renaissance is actively working to provide these helpful benefits where available.
PFML Coverage for Employees
In general, Paid Family Medical Leave covers employees who take leave from work to:
- Care for your own serious health condition as certified by a health care provider, including illness, injury or pregnancy/childbirth
- Care for a family member with a serious health condition as certified by a health care provider, including illness, injury or pregnancy/childbirth
- Bond with your child after birth, adoption or placement
- Care for a family member who was injured serving in the armed forces
- Manage affairs while a family member is on active duty
This coverage can be a valuable asset for families in need of added ancillary benefits support. The specifics of the coverage, including the length of family leave allotted, will vary based on the state.
