Dental FAQ2025-03-10T06:07:53-04:00
Is dental insurance worth it if I have good oral health?2025-03-10T06:05:30-04:00

Yes, dental insurance can be beneficial, even if you have good oral health. Regular check-ups, cleanings, and preventive care are important to maintaining oral health and those services are typically covered by dental insurance. Regular visits to the dentist help catch potential issues early and can prevent costly treatments in the future. Dental insurance helps provide financial protection against unexpected dental problems or emergencies that could arise. Additionally, dental exams can also detect more than 120 signs and symptoms of other non-dental disease that may indicate health issues elsewhere in your body.*

How does dental insurance work?2025-03-10T06:04:52-04:00

Dental insurance works by covering a portion of your dental care costs, helping you manage and reduce out-of-pocket expenses. When you purchase a dental insurance plan, you pay premiums, oftentimes on a monthly basis. In return, the insurance covers diagnostic and preventive services like cleanings and exams, as well as a percentage of costs for procedures like fillings, crowns and root canals. Most plans have a network of preferred providers, allowing you to choose from a list of dentists who offer services at negotiated rates that are typically lower than rates you would pay without insurance. By using Renaissance dental insurance, you can maintain good oral health without the financial stress, helping to ensure you receive the care you need when you need it.

How do I find out if my dentist is in-network or out-of-network?2025-06-30T16:48:18-04:00

Using an in-network dentist typically means lower out-of-pocket costs and streamlined billing processes, so it’s beneficial to verify your dentist’s status to maximize your benefits with Renaissance. To find out if your dentist is in-network, you can follow these simple steps:

Search Providers: Use our “Find a Provider” tool. Enter your location and your dentist’s name to see if they are listed as an in-network provider.

Call Customer Service: Employer group dental plan members, call 800-894-4532 if you have questions regarding dentist participation. Individual dental plan members, call 888-791-5995 to find a participating dentist.

Check with Your Dentist: Ask your dentist’s office directly if they participate in the Renaissance Benefits network. They often have this information readily available and can confirm their status.

What is a deductible in dental insurance?2025-03-10T06:04:39-04:00

A deductible in dental insurance is the amount you pay out-of-pocket for dental services before your insurance plan begins paying for services. The deductible varies depending on the plan you have selected. For example, if your plan has a $50 deductible, you must pay $50 toward your dental care expenses before Renaissance Benefits starts paying for covered services. Deductibles are typically applied annually, meaning you will need to meet the deductible amount each year before your insurance coverage begins paying for covered services. Please refer to your Renaissance policy documents for specific information about your deductible.

What is a premium in dental insurance?2025-03-10T06:04:26-04:00

A premium in dental insurance is the regular payment you make to maintain your coverage. This payment can be made monthly, quarterly, or annually, depending on your plan. The premium ensures that you and your family remain covered under the dental insurance policy provided by Renaissance, allowing you access to preventive care and other dental services at reduced costs. Please refer to your Renaissance policy documents for specific information about your premium.
