Renaissance Family Foundation Awards $45,000 To The Georgia Department Of Public Health

The Renaissance Family Foundation (RFF), an affiliate of Renaissance Dental, is proud to announce it has awarded $45,000 in grants to the Georgia Department of Public Health. The RFF is dedicated to improving oral health in the Peach State which ranks 49th in the country for dentists per capita, with only 4.4 dentists per 10,000 people and no practicing dentists in sixteen of its counties. “We know Georgia is one of the states most in need of support, and we hope this money goes a long way toward improving oral health in the state,” said Robert P. Mulligan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Renaissance Dental. This year’s grant funding will provide support for programs focused on children, female veterans and the elderly. As part of the support, parents with children in the state’s Head Start Program will receive educational materials on the importance of oral health. Several female veterans living in an Atlanta shelter will be given access to routine dental care. Portable dental clinics will be provided to two low-income nursing facilities to give the elderly access to dental screenings. The money will also be used for materials and equipment for several school-based sealant programs. “Once again Renaissance is coming through for the people of Georgia,” said Carol Smith, Director, Oral Health Program, Maternal and Child Health Section of the Georgia Department of Public Health. “This money is invaluable for the people of this state who would otherwise be without much needed dental care.” “I’m thrilled we are able to help so many people with this grant,” said Mulligan. “Our goal is to not only make sure people have access to dental care, but also to educate them on the importance of oral health and how it relates to overall wellness.” The RFF first started working with the Georgia Department of Health in 2013. Since then, Renaissance has continued its commitment to the state of Georgia through financial backing for some of the state’s most important oral-health initiatives.
